The Cranbrook foundation the establishment of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1932.The character and mode of the Cranbrook Academy of Art is set forth in the donors’ deed, and states that the academy of art “will afford talented and highly trained students the opportunity of pursuing their studies in a favorable environment and under the leadership of artists and architects of high repute. The most distinctive building on the campus is the monumental Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum and Library with the Orpheus or Dancing Maidens fountain by Carl Milles. The classical building opens up to the huge scale of a paved concrete walk.
