Staircase lighting typically remains on at full output despite low occupancy rates. This publication shows energy and photometric conditions before and after retrofit with Occu-smart® luminaires. These luminaires use a built-in occupancy sensor to automatically dim the lights to a low level when the space is unoccupied. A high-rise residential installation is featured. Energy savings are compared with results in a Manhattan office building.
